Peat and growing conditions

Peat for substrate is taking crop and growing conditions into account

The type of peat for each substrate is chosen depending on the crop and growing situations.  Peat is carefully checked before further processing it into substrates at the production facility. At first, smell, purity, colour and other detectable features are inspected. Other parameters are tested in laboratory analysis including EC, pH, moisture content, water absorption, structural analysis, bulk density, temperature and weed tests. Only peat which passes all the tests may enter the production facility.

Different grades and types of peat are separated into piles at the factory and selected to be used for different products. Various peat grades as well as specific additives such as starter fertilizers are accurately dosed and blended together to formulate a substrate.
