Exploring Uppsala’s example of innovative urban solutions

The Rosendal area in Uppsala kommun is an inspiring example of innovative urban development where sustainability is at the centre. Hasselfors Garden has participated in the project, where major efforts are being made to promote greenery, social interaction, and biodiversity. Since the area is located within a water protection zone, particularly high demands are placed on technical solutions – such as stormwater reservoirs.

Our contribution includes:
✅ Specially developed substrates for stormwater handling that filter and purify rainwater before it reaches the stormwater system.
✅ Certified biochar that functions as a carbon sink and, with carbon credits included, helps compensate for emissions from the construction phase.
✅ Citykross products for planting areas that support greenery and biodiversity throughout the area.

The project shows how collaboration and innovation can create cities where people and nature thrive together.
