Why are circular materials urgently needed in growing media?
At Kekkilä‑BVB, we are committed to developing sustainable growing media by testing new circular raw materials in close collaboration with our customers. One of our valued partners on this journey is VDA Plant, a Dutch grower of sustainable tropical houseplants.
VDA Plant has tested Kekkilä‑BVB’s unique circular raw material, reed canary grass, in several growing media mixes across multiple crops. The mixes have been developed together with the customer, based on continuous feedback from the plants themselves. For example, in the case of the Yucca palm, the growth performance has been so strong that the new circular blend is now in permanent use.
Watch the video to hear our Regional Sales Manager, John Noordam, explain what is driving growers, and the entire industry, towards using more circular materials.
Kekkilä-BVB focuses on finding new circular materials that combine optimal growth performance, long lifespan and lower environmental impact. Together with our partners, we’re shaping the future of sustainable horticulture.
