Exhibition Garden Futures: Designing with nature

January 18, 2024

As part of our Nordics brand Kekkilä Garden’s centenary celebration, we are sponsoring an exciting international exhibition in Helsinki. “Garden Futures: designing with nature” is a joint exhibition organised by Design Museum, Helsinki and Arkkitehtuurimuseo (Museum of Finnish Architecture).

Kekkilä has been one of the pioneers in Finland in all aspects of gardening, growing and horticulture already for 100 years and counting. Sharing information and know-how and promoting this sector has always been at the core of our philosophy.

Alongside the exhibition, our specialists are organising a series of open forums to learn and discuss various topics of gardening in the museum. An exhibition like this widens the perspective of gardening and makes it available for all people with or without an own garden or a green thumb.
Next in programme will be an on-line designer talk by agronomist and landscape designer Laura Gatti and European tree technician Jarno van Veelen from BVB Landscaping about a vertical forest ‘Trudo tower’ on 30.1. at 18.00 EET / 17.00 CET.
This talk will be in English, you can sign up here.

Approaching gardens through architecture, design and art, Garden Futures is a touring exhibition by Vitra Design Museum, Wüstenrot Stiftung and Het Nieuwe Instituut. The exhibition shows how even the private garden is in many ways connected to the surrounding society: instead of a romantic retreat, gardens are explored through themes such as activism, social justice and biodiversity. The Museum of Architecture and the Design Museum are also presenting Finnish content as part of the exhibition.

The exhibition in the Museum of Architecture and Design Museum will be open until the end of March 2024. More information can be found at their website.
