Why is listening to plants so important?

June 9, 2026

Today, testing new substrate mixes with multiple raw materials, having their own special characteristics, is hard work – a process of trial and error. You have to focus on the needs of both the customer and the plant.

Our customer VDA Plant grows tropical houseplants, and their yucca palms are a great example of this approach. Both the customer and the yuccas have been listened to, and performance has been monitored closely. The result is a circular mix containing, among other things, coir, bark, wood fibre, reed canary grass and moss in just the right proportions to help the plant thrive.

🎥 Watch the video as our Regional Sales Manager, John Noordam, shows how plant feedback can be used to increase performance.
