Professor Inese Vaidere
Prof. Dr. oec. Inese Vaidere has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2004 and has served as a long-time Professor of Economics at the University of Latvia. She works in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, as well as the Committee on the Environment, Public Health, and Food Safety. Prior to becoming an MEP, Ms. Vaidere was the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Latvia. She has also served as the Minister for Environment of Latvia and Chair of the Committee for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea (HELCOM). In the European Parliament, Vaidere has advocated for the sustainable production of safe green food and is highly knowledgeable on the economic factors affecting European producers.
