Vegetable beds for kids (Gemüsebeete für Kids)

June 27, 2023

Vegetables don’t grow in supermarkets – this is the message conveyed by the “Gemüsebeete für Kids” (Vegetable beds for kids) project of the EDEKA ZENTRALE Stiftung & Co. KG, which aims to educate and nurture the curiosity of preschool children throughout Germany.

Under the guidance of trained teams, children aged three to six, provided with raised beds by the foundation, plant vitamin-rich greens such as kohlrabi, radishes, carrots, lettuce, and more.

Once again, Kekkilä-BVB joins as a sponsor of the project, as it is ofcourse close to our values to teach children from young ages how valuable it is that we can grow our own food, even in small gardens and balconies.

For the successful “Gemüsebeete für Kids” project, Kekkilä-BVB provided a total 175.000 litres of soil. This year, approximately 240,000 preschoolers across the country are participating in the project.
